Sometimes, the best craft ideas can start with something as simple as a toilet paper or paper towel roll. There are endless options to expand the imagination of children.

Drawing and Painting

The most common craft ideas will almost always involve drawing or painting. There are plenty of materials that can be used to draw and paint. A variety of art supplies can be purchased in order to draw or paint a beautiful picture. Drawing is most commonly done with a dry material such as a pencil, crayon, or pen. Pencils can be lead or coloured and are usually used on paper. Painting entails watercolours or other paints and paintbrushes. There are many different kinds of paint such as acrylic and fabric paints. Painting can be done on paper, canvas, or fabric, depending on the project being done. Drawing and painting are simple craft ideas that will keep most children busy and content for a long period of time.

Homemade Concoctions

Papier Mache is a popular craft idea that can be made at home with different recipes. The most popular way to make Papier Mache is to use white liquid glue and mix it with water to form a solution. Another option is mixing flour and water together. Whichever recipe you choose, once the solution is made, grab some newspaper and tear it up into pieces. Dip the newspaper into the solution and either add it to an object like a balloon, or start to make a separate item. When the Papier Mache dries, it becomes hard almost like cardboard. After it hardens, it can be painted or decorated however you choose. Another fun craft to do at home are wax pictures. If you have crayons or candles laying around and waxed paper, you have all the essential items for this fun and creative craft. First, take a piece of waxed paper and lay it on a flat surface. Next, choose your wax product of choice and shave pieces of it all around the waxed paper. Once the waxed paper is covered and you are satisfied with the distribution, put an additional piece of waxed paper on top of the shavings. Lastly, you will need a clothes iron. Take the hot iron and smooth the top layer of waxed paper. The wax shavings in between the two pieces of wax paper will melt to create a unique piece of art. Whether you are creating a project at home or with products bought at the store, craft possibilities are endless and always loads of fun.
